However since then I've found a new tool which with a little work I have been able to coax into downloading the contact list in gmail.
libgmailer is a far more powerful tool than I need for simply grabbing the contact list, allowing emails to be read and sent, attachments to be handled and a whole bunch of other things. If you want the full list I suggest you visit their website.
Using their class to grab the contact list is relatively simple and the code is as follows.

Similiarly to our Gig Lister script, it is useful to keep a dynamic list of all your bands gigs, and include details. If your band has a myspace profile then you can use this script to display the gigs on the page on an independant website. Look at the demo site to see how the bands gigs are grabbed from the bands myspace page, If the band page has been modified with html, then this script may not work.

This web site now has its own RSS feed and [almost] realtime download statistics (they're updated every six hours to minimize the strain on Sourceforge's servers.) Enjoy!

As Google Maps only works from longitude and latitude decimal notations this script will work out marker positions using the first part of the UK Postcode
