AdminPro is a user authentication class based on MySQL and the PHP Session functions. It was written for Web sites that need some password protected areas. It includes a user management application script and a MySQL table setup application script. The class can allow a user to login and logout via Web-based forms, expire the session of an authenticated user if it passed a given session timeout, display error messages and point the user to the login page when the user is not authenticated or the login session expired, and check whether a logged user has administrator or user group privileges

I found this tutorial Creating a PHP Login Script to be very helpful in writing this script, in fact, a lot of the code presented here is very similar to the code presented in that tutorial. The differences are seen with the new "Remember Me" feature, the use of cookies in addition to sessions, and with slight modifications in the design

This script will help you password protect PHP pages. All you have to do is add one line of PHP code at the top of the pages you would like to protect.
In version 2.5 you can have multiple user groups, and you can give access to your pages to one or more user groups. Your users can also change their passwords and email address.
Cookie Password Protection also include File Protection 1.0 so you can protect your download files or images. File Protection is free if you buy Cookie Password Protection 2.6, but a limited version is included in Cookie Password Protection 1.1 so you can try it before you buy.
