11. NiceCalendar 2.3
NiceCalendar is a pretty and user-friendly Calendar app.
It can easily be placed in any kind of portal or blog system and doesn't require further coding: you just customize some CSS directives and everything is ready to work.
A cool feature is the "day link" option which allows you to assign a specific text+link to some calendar days. Each message will be displayed with a nice tooltip (see demo).

the date picker now pops up as a modal window (it will stay on top of other windows until closed) and will also have the focus by default - thanks to Johan van Ieperen

Project-Based Calendaring System (in short PBCS) is an open source web-based calendaring system, designed to be an useful aid for people who manage schedules for one or more persons. The main feature of PBCS, which distinguishes it from all other calendar applications, is that schedule planners can plan schedules for other people easily using day or week overviews showing multiple people at once. There are the regular single-user overviews for those who look mainly at their own calendar. For people on the road it is now possible to sync your appointments into a Palm PDA.

VCalendar (Virtual Calendar) is an open source Web calendar application with related tools, for posting and maintaining events and schedules online, in calendar format. This is an excellent and free solution for use by online Web communities and any commercial and non-commercial organizations. Unlike any other online calendars, VCalendar comes with source code in multiple programming languages: PHP, ASP and ASP.NET (C# and VB.NET); with potential for adding more technologies in the future.

MapCal is a mapping event calendar. It has the ability to add/modify/delete events and show them on a list like other event calendars. The difference with MapCal is that it also shows your events on an embeded Google Map. This works great for things like a motorcycle club, or a craft show exibitor. Any place you want to show events and their location. Take a look at the on-line demo. MapCal uses PHP and MySQL. PHP 5+ is required.
It has a built-in geocoder - that is it can look up coordinates based on your event address (Google maps only work with lat/lon coordinates, not raw addresses). Thanks to Eric Angel who offers a web service to do this.
MapCal is free for non-commercial or commercial

tngCalendar operates in conjunction with the TNG package, but can (and should) be installed separately. Simply download the package, and uncompress in a temporary directory. Edit the php file according to the directions contained inside, and copy the pieces into place.
Note that tngCalendar may circumvent your security setup by "giving away" birth and marriage dates relevent to living persons. However, since the exact year of a person's birth or marriage is not shown on the calendar (it only shows anniversaries, the year is only used for day-of-the-week layout), this is usually an acceptable risk.
