This is a web based chat application and uses only JSP and Java Servlets. It doesn't use applets, activeX controls or database. It isn't a commercial application but a freeware, which shows how JSP and Java Servlets can be used. If you know Java and JSP you can also download source code of Java Classes and try to extend this application yourself

jChatBox 2.6, the JSP? Chat Application. It allows to open and manage multilanguage chatrooms. System user can open and control multiples chatrooms. Moderators can manage users (list, ban, kickoff), manage blacklist, generate transcripts, do backup, and apply chatrooms parameters such as max users, language, filters, performance, ... Server side needs Servlets/JSP. Client side could be HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Applet, Flash or Application such as SWING. Chatrooms are easily customizables thanks to skins. They can be extended by designers or programmers through the jChatBox API. jChatBox is ready for XML communication thanks to its XML Connector service. An Add-Ons section is also available with tools like smiley filter, web cam skin, database and LDAP authentication, chinese and russian translations, Flash client, self-closing empty chatrooms, XMLTranscriptor, Load benchmark ...

Here is the jzChat V1.0 servlet (free). This servlet performs a 100% HTML/JavaScript chatroom. Guest users just have to enter a nickname for chatting. They can choose chat's look&feel. Private messages are allowed. Root user chooses chatroom's name and subject. Root also controls the chatroom : max. users, open, close, transcript, list or kickoff users, clear blacklist features are available. jzChat is protected against cross scripting attacks. Only root user could use "direct-HTML". Note that this chat could run in both framed and non-framed mode

This Java servlet implements chat rooms. It is a pure HTML implementation, so this chat is free from any firewall's restrictions. Also this chat supports WAP/WML, so mobile users can join your chat's community.
