Java upload applets are an ideal solution for file and folder upload. Unlike ActiveX components applets are platform independent. This means that they also work on a Mac or on a Linux machine. JavaAtWork offers two multiple file upload applets. One for HTTP and one for FTP.

With traditional HTML form based uploads, each transfer is limited to a handlfull of files. With Thin Upload thousands of files and folders can be sent at once. A browse button can also be displayed for users who may prefer it, this button can also be used to select multiple files and folders

The enterprise edition can be used to upload files using either File Transfer (FTP) or Hyper Text Transfer (HTTP) protocols. When used in HTTP mode it can either PUT or POST the files to the server and the file can be protected while in transit with SSL encryption.

Users do not have to install extra software, but can start using the download manager instantly. It is meant for large downloads or downloads which span over a number of files. When users have to download multiple files, the JDownload download manager can help save time. The webmaster can dynamically create a list of files for users, so the only thing what the user has to do, is to start the download. He might optionally choose another target directory, or select/unselect single files, which he doesn't want to download.

JUpload is a component which can be embedded into existing websites for easy upload of multiple files. It supports multiple uploads, recursive folder upload and provides a lot of features for image processing prior to the upload.
It is more comfortable and easier to use than most browser's internal file selection dialog. The user can manage his upload queue and has a status monitor showing the percentage increase of the upload and the current file transfer speed.
