I was reading UCSD's student newspaper (the Guardian) Tuesday night, mostly because I found it lying on the ground while I was waiting for math discussion (and also because it's a pretty interesting read -- I don't make a habit of reading everything I find lying on the ground). A few quotes grabbed my attention, so I highlighted them, dusted of the newspaper, and shoved it in my backpack. I just realized that the paper was still sitting on my desk, so I'll relay those quotes now. (If you don't care about Quotes I Read In The Guardian And Found Interesting, you can just skip this blogging and read about cute little bunny-rabbits.)

If you are currently using Matt's Guestbook script then my [guestbk2.pl] (12/4/95) can replace the addguest.html and guestbook.pl (.cgi) files. Just make sure you point your 'Add' link in the guestbook to the guestbk2.pl (.cgi). The new script can use the same [guestbook.html] and [guestlog.html] files. If you have an older version change the to where you want new entries to appear in the guestbook.

guestbook entries are stored in a log file and the HTML is created on the fly, when the guestbook is called with a browser. There is error checking built in, a page counter, and file locking so two people can't write to the file at the same time.
