I was given the problem of implementing a data source fail over using Coldfusion. The goal was to develop a way to switch users to a successful server in a cluster when their desired server failed, and then switch them back to their original server once that server was available. I also wanted to make sure that the fail over was spread out across the successful connections evenly so 1 server wouldn't take the brunt of the load if possible.

This version of the script makes a backup of each database individually when you choose to backup all of your databases. The previous version dumped all of the databases into a single file. When you run this script and have it emailed to you, you'll end up with multiple attachments, each attachment being a single database name. Why did I do this? Well, I myself needed to restore a database and I had all the databases in a single file. I ended up searching throughout the file to find where surrounding databases started or stopped and copied the info in between. It wasn't very fun, especially since the databases weren't very small. This script gets around that headache completely.

Yeah, you read the title right. N-13 News is overdue an update and recently I've been giving it just that. A week or so ago I decided that a lot of people are still using the script so it deserves to be updated, I also knew there was quite a few things which could be improved/scraped and started again. If I could go back in time I would slap myself for the way I coded things back when I first wrote N-13 News, updating it is a hassle and because of that I'm having to overhaul quite a lot of it.
