This is called a singleton query. ADO.Net has specific functions for singleton queries, but not ADO (ActiveX Data Objects). This article describes how to use an ADO command object to perform faster singleton queries.

Displaying specific subsets of data from a database is easy to accomplish in .asp. The following example utilizes our Access database of Mark "The Bird" Fidrych and displays all of his season statistics for 1976 contained in the database rather than displaying the entire db.
No matter what kind of site you have got, you will need your ASP pages to access databases. ASP makes it easier to work with databases by providing support for ADO ( Activex Data Objects ).
