ASP Speed Tricks
2514 ASP Speed Tricks http://www.somacon.com/p235.php ADO is used to query the data, and the underlying database may be MySQL, SQL Server, Access, Oracle, or any other major RDBMS. Unlike many other articles, complete examples are presented, which may be copied into a file and run directly. Techniques for optimizing the output of tabular data are presented first, followed by techniques for optimizing more complex tabular data typical of reports. The appendix contains instructions for configuring the tests, links to references, and books suggestions. ASP > Tips and Tutorials > Database-related Oct 10, 2006 Shailesh N. Humbad

But why? I read Part I and I was able to implement a simple database program very easily. Why would I need to learn anything more?
You might have implemented some database program.. but I am sure it would be a very simple one. You may even be able to implement a good database program without Joins. But you wouldn't be using the features of SQL that let you do the same work much easily. Without Joins, you may manage SQL.. but with Joins you could do things very easily

In this article we will learn how to display random records from the database. From the articles so far, you will be able to display records from the database in a variety of ways and do a lot with them. We will add to our ASP-Database knowledge by enabling our ASP scripts to show random records.

In this tutorial you are going to learn everything in detail step by step you'll ever want to know about inserting binary data ( images, zip files etc ) into database. This is actually first of the three articles I am going to write on manipulating binary data in the database. After this article you'll be able to upload binary data into database, then in second article you'll learn to get this data out of database and show it as you like and finally in the third article I'll explain uploading files. All of this is going to be plain ASP ( VBScript ) and nothing else, so stay tuned

ASP is a pseudo-programming language aimed at HTML development. It allows web pages to do more than contain just static content. By placing ASP tags in with your HTML tags, you can have a page that interacts with the user. The page can make decisions based on logic and user input. If you're familiar with HTML, then you know that an HTML tag uses <> around it's tags. For example this text will be bold would make this text will be bold. ASP is similar in that it uses delimiter tags like HTML. However, the tags differ slightly. An ASP delimiter tag starts with <% and ends with %>.
