I'm currently in the process of switching webhosts, so the website (except for this page) is down for the moment. I'm also working on a couple projects for clients, so be patient! All will be organized and complete soon enough.ASP > Scripts and Components > Chat ScriptsOct 10, 2006Kevin Lawrence
Pipey's Flash Chat is a web-based chat system based on Macromedia Flash and Active Server Pages (ASP) technologies. It overcomes the problems of many HTML-based chats by using interactive Flash movies as the user-interface. And what's more, it is very easy to customise. Here's a list of the main features:
OnLive Help provides you everything needed to add real-time online assistance to your web site. Your visitors will be able to communicate with you through a one on one chat system designed specifically for online assistance.
There is no servers or
software to install. There is
no complicated PHP, CGI
or ASP scripts to configure.
Just sign up for your free account and answer a few question in our online setup wizard. Then we give you one line of HTML code to paste into your web page and that's it. It takes less then 10 minutes.
My HTML-based chat is programmed using ASP and you're able to download all needed documents from this page. If you want to set up a chat server on your own ASP enabled site, just place these files in a directory of your choice and make a link to default.asp. This page is used to login users. Furthermore, you will need to add some lines in your global.asa file. Which lines will be described later.
A panel on your right side of ConquerChat always show current number of online users. Your own login name will be marked with bold type. In my current version, you're not able to get extended information about a specific user, but in my next release, you will be able to click on a user to read a detailed description (if made available by this user) and maybe a link to his/her private homepage. However, this will require every user to create a profile. Currently nothing is known about a user, except login name but later a database will be added, describing each user, i.e. its profile.
Due to the 100's of emails I've received in the past few weeks regarding the release of LiveChat 3.0, I felt the need to post the status of the release of v3.0.
The release has been severely delayed due to the need to get various areas of Happytech.net online. After this week I should be in a good enough position to pick-up coding on 3.0 again. Since many of you have shown such great interest in this release, I have decided to release a beta release. Which will probably be the middle of next week
