The click and counter tracker script allows you to track the total number of visitors and number of unique visitors (based on IP Address) visiting any of your advertising links.

This actually mean that you need to have a running web server capable of running PHP scripts. When accessed, the script uses a pre-defined login and password combination to logon to your google adsense server and fetching the earnings details on a schedule you set (optionally).
