This demonstration creates a user-friendly outline-style table of contents for a multi-frame window. The sample data here is inconsequential, but representative of the kind of things you might like to have an outline pointing to.
One part of the design I focused on was making as much of the code as generalizable as possible so that only minor changes would be necessary to modify data for any given outline.
Instructions: To start, click on any of the widget icons below the divider bar in the left frame. Clicking on any of the text links displays the relevant portion of a document in this frame.
Notice to Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 Users: While this outliner works fine from a web server, it does not work if you download all the files and try to access it from your hard disk. This is because MSIE 3.0 does not store or read cookies (even temporary ones like the one used in the outliner) when the file that creates/reads the cookie is on a local hard drive.
The treeview control is written in pure dhtml/javascript and works without installation of any plugins, java code etc. It is often used as "Checkbox Tree".
Nornix TreeMenu uses fast and standards compliant HTML, CSS and JS code. The tree menu degrades gracefully in older browsers, where it will show up as nested bulleted lists. Please read the full list of features.
