Java IRC Client - IRC Applet - JWIRC grounded on Java technology of Sun Microsystems. JWIRC is a small java IRC Applet working from the web page. The applet is multi-channels programm which consequently allows you to have a conversation through several channels at once. The irc applet does not limit you at number of channels. It is possible due to good optimization of memory usage . Users can send and recive files by DCC.
Appearance of the java applet completely customized. Webmaster can change any colors, make menues, enter limitations on usage for some fields and commands, make a language pack for any countries, set up changing from words to an images (smile to image) and more. All parameters of the applet are described in it's documentation.
For operation java applet on your computer JAVA plugging is required to version 1.3 or higher Sun company or any versions of Microsoft company.
In all Windows* operating systems Java is already present , excluding WindowsXP. For WindowsXP to you need to install service pack for it, if it not already installed (or setup Sun JRE plugging).
The java applet represents by 2 files with packed *.class Java files: jwirc.cab and jwirc.jar . File jwirc.cab work with Java from Microsoft, jwirc.jar with Java from Sun. For seting up IRC applet to your site you must just copy their files and connect them with html code of your page.

Having installed ircd as server and this applet as client, a company can organize simple and reliably link with the clients and branches of the company.
This soft is shareware, you may download ZIPeed pack with irc applet, documentation, examples, and setup it at your site. But remember that is a shareware soft will work (on client's side) only 5 minutes and then will continue operation, but with the locking of send message. For removal of this limitation you should register and receive the key from me. Also you can test without any limitations the irc applet from this site, just typing in the field named IRC Server name or IP address of your ircd server or any public server.

Working on EIRC has been a great experience, I've met some great people and I've even had the opportunity to work abroad because of this project. The reason why I'm dropping it is simple: it's been a long time since I've last used this piece of software myself. Besides that, most of the work that remains undone is related to GUI enhancements, many of which are very difficult to solve nicely with AWT; given that mainstream web browsers have been supporting Java 2 VM's for quite a while already, I myself would stand firmly in favor of Swing based Applets.

Development has been stalled for more than a year already. I feel it's not right to hide from the users I'm not involved in this project anymore. As the one and only developer, that means that the project is officially orphaned. Having said so, I'll be here on the look out for someone responsible to take over the project. Bear in mind I will ask for some kind of references, though.
