To be able to use any perl scripts you will need to have cgi-bin access. Some service providers only allow cgi access to their business customers. So check first.
The first line of any perl script point to the location of the Perl program on the file server which varies on different servers. You will need to contact your service provider for this location and change the first line of the script accordingly.
When you upload the script to your service provider ensure you transfer in ASCII mode as this will convert the file to the correct format. If your pages are on a UNIX server you will need to change the rights to the file using chmod to 755 or -rwxr-xr-x.

CounterLog monitors accesses to any pages which contain an SSI code referencing it. It can create NCSA-format agent and referer logs, which can be handy if your server doesn't happen to already provide you with that information. It can also be used to put text-based access counters on some or all of your pages. (Called via either SSI or JavaScript.)

You are free to use the following CGI scripts on your own site. We only ask that you NOT "publish" them for download on another site. Please point to this or the home page to refer to them (not the file link, we like the traffic), thanks.
We are working on more scripts, please come back soon.

Access.cgi - monitor the amount of traffic on your site at any given moment.
Lists the last 100 transactions in your access logs and automatically refreshes every 5 minutes or however long you wish.
This script provides the REMOTE_HOST recorded by your server log. If your server has the "reverse DNS lookup" turned off (which many are doing these days) you'll see something like 206.244.135.142 and if the "reverse DNS lookup" is turned on, you'll most likely see the domain name version, such as ... host045.jerseycity.interactive.net
Although your server may have the "reverse DNS lookup" turned on, you'll see about 20% of all hits from numeric ip addressing. Not all IP addresses on the net have a domain name assigned to it

The log-reader.cgi program is designed to operate as a Perl/CGI program. It reads the Apache access_log file in standard ECLF format, interprets the records in this file, and returns (a) the most popular URL's on your web site and (b) the top TCP/IP addresses of clients who visited your web site.
With this information, you can determine which URL's on your site are popular, and who they appeal to. You can also tell if somebody has been spidering your web site by looking for uncommonly high numbers of hits from one web site address.

Follow is a session-based logfile analysis tool; with it, you can improve your site by tracking how people use it. Take a look at a sample output and have a look at the Readme to see how.
Currently, Follow uses Perl 5 or greater, and has only been tested on Unix (although users have reported that it works well with Windows). It expects input in Common Logfile Format (combined with Access and Referer stats, if you wish) and outputs to plain text or HTML.
Follow is free for individual use; please contact me if you wish to use Follow or its code for commercial use (i.e, reselling, incorporating it into a product or service). See the license for more details.

Count+Stat provides the power of a high priced statistics program. Guess what? This is that program, without the cost. This solid running perl script tells you important user information such as IP numbers, refers, clients, and time.
With Count+Stat you can see where your users are coming from, and thus you can tell what they like, and overall who they are. If you get all kinds of people from a certain website, you can visit it and see exactly where your users come from!
