ApaLogFilter is a tool - released under the GNU General Public License - which filters and manipulates web server logfiles (NCSA Combined Log Format). The purpose is

to reduce the number of lines in the logfile to lines which are relevant for the statistics,
to manipulate the data in the entries, so that they can be better interpreted.
The analyses itself can be done with programs like analog or webalizer. This tool complements those by providing a preprocessing step for raising the quality of the reports

By default, none of the settings should need changing. The default settings will work on 80% of hosts so likely all you will need to do is upload and CHMOD the files. However, the settings are there so you can change them if needed

Traffic Log is a web statistics script. Traffic Log enables you to track hits and unique visitors, hits by page, by date, browser and captures the entry page for each visitor. The log file can be purged of old visits through use of the script.

Traffic Log is not intended to duplicate the use of server logs, log analysis tools, or other tracking scripts that use SSI. Rather, it is intended where use of these methods are simply not possible, but meaningful statistics are desired. Each hit is captured through a standard HTML tag, which does not require SSI. All that is required is CGI capability. Because the scripts run on the web server, you can view the statistics on any pc that has a web browser and internet access.

Access Panda is a CGI script written in Perl 5.0 under FreeBSD, though it should run on most modern operating systems. Its output has been formatted to look nicest in Netscape Navigator, though it should display correctly in any web browser. It is tuned for a web server that serves hundreds of domains, but it should work just as well on a web server which serves only one

freq is a Perl script used to analyze the last log. It works on Linux systems, but may also work on other UNIX-based systems that have the same format for their lastlog. I have added some preliminary support for SunOS and IRIX, though this has not been tested to the point where I would know if it is completely working or not.

It can spit out information regarding how many times a user has logged in as well as what days, terminals, hours, and months are most popular for logins. In addition, it can sort this information alphabetically or ascending or descending by number of logins. It can even generate simple graphs.

This program may soon be replaced - no sooner did I get it posted online, when I started to notice it's shortcomings. For example -- once the meta file is generated, you have a list of pages visited and their number of hits; a list of clients and their number of hits; a list of 404's and their number of hits -- but none of these lists relate back to each other in any way.

So, I'm working on a bigger, better log analyzation tool (possibly utilizing a database such as MySQL or Oracle). Here is a preliminary version, but it's far from complete (I don't recommend downloading it unless you have time and experience to deal with any problems it may cause). More will come soon.

Also, it has been brought to my attention that very large log files (such as a gigabyte) can cause the application to run out of memory -- not too shocking, really.

Superstat was one of the first perl programs I had written, and felt worth distributing. While it has it's limitations, I'm hoping that if nothing else, the program might give someone insite on ways perl & regular expresions can be utilized.

AccountStats 1.0 is a free Perl program (NOT a CGI) that scans Common or Combined format access_logs and summarizes the account activity for people who have logged in (name/password) to password (.htaccess/.htpasswd) protected areas on the system. It make no attempt to figure out the realm (only a problem if you have multiple realms with different people having the same names assigned).
