This script is the ancestor of Aardvark Topsites PHP. It is still the best free CGI topsites script, although it's nowhere near as good as Aardvark Topsites PHP. If you don't have PHP and MySQL, give it a try.

This free toplist program that ranks sites, has many features that you usually only find in most toplist pay scripts. It allows you to start a simple free toplist ranking site, ranking by hits/day or hits/month, its up to you. The script includes a quick display feature which allows for quick page loading, with the option to set for half hour, hour, or per hit list updates. You can rank by hits in or hits out. You also have the option to allow sites to include a banner graphic with their listing, and members can update their listing at any time.

This is probably one of the hardest to find topsite scripts on the internet. This script is just like any other topsite script as it ranks sites from the ones who send the most traffic to the least traffic. The major difference is that members do not even have to sign up! This script is so powerful that it will automatically analyze all incoming hits and determine where they are coming from. It can also detect whether your visitors are legit traffic. The script will block sites loading your site in an image tag or iframe tag. You can have your list update automatically however often you please.

The Cheap Scripts Top Site Script is a script that will create a list of the top sites that have joined the group. The sites can be added by the user and they get a number, a password, and an HTML code. When the user puts the HTML code on their website, their website users can vote for that site and five them a rating from one to ten. You can determain when the script will update (half hour, hour, or 24 hours) and when the script updates the information is added. The script will generate a list of all of the sites in the group and will orgainze them by ratings. All ratings are averaged so that the highest a site can get is ten. You also have the option to have the top sites list reset itself every week so that one site can't get too far ahead of another site.

This script goes through the automatically generated referer_log file and counts how many times your page is referred to by each URL. Top Sites is the original and premier web site ranking program, which can build great traffic to many web sites. So popular in fact Cgi-resources named a category after it. Top Sites begins with web masters signing up and adding their site to Top Sites, with their page name, url and a banner url (these can be customized to include a site description). They are then given a unique HTML code (either a text or image link) to place on their site. Every time a person clicks on the image or text the hit is counted for the member who's link was clicked. They are then automatically directed to the Top Sites page displaying the top 10 or 25 or what ever you want. They can then travel on to another site from this list. This list is automatically generated every time increment you choose. Ranking the sites on the amount of hits they have brought that day or total number of hits overall. Top Sites Professional works the same as the free version of Top Sites, but with many more features. The freeware version can be downloaded here.

Top sites is a program which works like a poll system. It lets a webmaster sign up and receive a special URL which he/she will put on their website. Then, whoever clicks on that link/banner linked to that special URL will generate one vote for that site. The more votes the site gets, the higher it is ranked among other sites. (example)
