BetaAPP is an open source project to continue development of the WebAPP (Web Automated Perl Portal) content management / portal system. This is being done to carry on efforts as have been put forth towards WebAPP versions since mid-2004.1 This site is a live demo and working example of the system.

With discussion forums and a group-accessible CVS file revision system, BetaAPP's fluent nature and live demonstration of the newest code serves as a versatile development platform. BetaAPP has rather an interesting system in that the versioning is by date. At the CVS area, a downloadable zip of updated files may be made by members at any time, either of all files, of files since a certain date, or of selected files. Each package's version is time stamped with the current date at time of download. A static "snapshot" package is occasionally updated and is available in the downloads area for non-member public visitors.

Our main focus here is currently on the basic core code: being bug fixing, Perl code optimization, HTML markup reduction, and security.

SoftSite v1.0 is a multi-browser compatible perl script that quickly and easily permits you to set up and maintain an extensive and well organized shareware or freeware directory/archive under Windows or Linux with a minimum of effort on your part. The listed software files can either be stored on your server (archive) or linked from the author's website (directory). SoftSite v1.0 is highly flexible and completely generic so that it can be used by virtually anyone with very little modification. SoftSite v1.0 was painstaking designed from the ground up to be both feature-rich and user-friendly. Visitors can rate programs, write and submit their own software reviews, report dead links, participate in polls, contribute articles to the weekly newsletter and much more. The admin page features a built-in newsletter/banner manager which makes sending out newsletters to multiple recipients and managing advertising banners a breeze. A powerful search engine with indexing and advanced search capability is also built into the script. SoftSite v1.0 can be used alone or as the perfect compliment to any existing site looking for high traffic or product branding and each of the 564 html pages used by the script contains unique, binominal and trinominal keywords for maximum traffic generation.

A "Community Portal" generator that can be tailored for any location. Each user gets a personal portal page to which they can add their own "channels" or select from a growing list of pre-prepared local, national and international content. This allows any individual to always have a page of their own personal favourites in front of them.
