a perl script that will autogenerate thumbnails given a directory of images. it can generate multiple sizes based on reduction factors that you pass to it and does not require that that all the images be of the same size

dater.pl is a short cgi-script for changing graphics on webpages by date. You can set start and endday for each graphic, and also define a default graphic, which would be used, if no other images fits in. You need Perl 5 and SSI for using it.

HTMLThumbnail creates index pages of the graphic file content of directories on Unix based web servers. It generates real thumbnail images (not just mis-sizing the images) that are typically around 1-2% of the byte count of the originals (thus letting you see them 50 - 100 times as fast). It works with both JPEG and GIF images, supports 'incremental change' updating to allow easy adding of new images (or modifying of old ones) without wasting a lot of time regenerating the index for every image. It also supports optional linking to the original images, drop shadows, rotation of the final icon, and image borders. Essentially all setting are command line adjustable.

IMGIDX.PL will create an index of images in table format. It will also optionally create a page for each of the images based on a default built-in or user-specified template; create a slideshow of images; and optionally attach captions to each of the images.

IMGIDX.PL is quite flexible with a number of optional switches that affect its default behavior. See the included documentation (below) for more details.

IMGIDX.PL was developed and tested on Windows 95 and NT systems. It may or may not work on other operating systems although nothing Windows 95 specific was done that should prevent it.

There seems to be some confusion about this next point: this script is NOT a CGI. It was meant to be run in an offline mode from the command-line to create HTML pages. Those HTML pages can then be uploaded via FTP to your web server just like any other web pages. It automates the creation of HTML pages -- it is not a CGI script.
