This guestbook has been specially designed for multiuser sites: a site-wide guestbook.pl file can be reused by multiple users by "require"ing it in their own guestbook.cgi files. Appearance is configurable through the use of "template" files, which can be edited by any GUI Webpage editor.

If you are currently using Matt's Guestbook script then my [guestbk2.pl] (12/4/95) can replace the addguest.html and guestbook.pl (.cgi) files. Just make sure you point your 'Add' link in the guestbook to the guestbk2.pl (.cgi). The new script can use the same [guestbook.html] and [guestlog.html] files. If you have an older version change the to where you want new entries to appear in the guestbook.

Das G?stebuch ist auf den ersten Blick nur noch eins, der bereits im Netz angebotenen G?steb?chern. Aber es kann mehr. Mit diesem Skript ist es m?glich, mehrere B?cher gleichzeitig zu verwalten. Zus?tzlich sind die Benutzer in der Lage das Design ihres Buches relativ frei zu gestalten. Man ist nicht auf eine bestimmte Form angewiesen, wie sie von anderen bekannten Skripten vorgegeben wird.
Ein weiterer Vorteile dieses Skripts ist, da? der Benutzer in der Lage ist zwischen 2 verschiedenen Eingabeformen zu w?hlen: Der eigenen Form, oder einer, die das Skript erm?glicht. Au?erdem besitzt das Skript eine Preview-Funktion.

guestbook entries are stored in a log file and the HTML is created on the fly, when the guestbook is called with a browser. There is error checking built in, a page counter, and file locking so two people can't write to the file at the same time.

the script to create, edit and generate pages came from homepage maker script, originally written by dave palmer. i've adapted it to process guestbooks and i've also added the page deletion capability. , provide color selections and accept parameters for controlling email acknowledgement and retention rules
