Unlike many FTP CGIs who only imitate an FTP server, SmartFTP really connects to any FTP in the world! It does not only display files on the same server the CGI is installed on, but opens a real FTP connection. It lets you view files and browse an FTP, all on your web site with your design (colors, links, ad banners, etc...). It even has the basic features of an FTP program, such as deleting, renaming, making new directories, and more. Plus, some extra features most FTP programs don't even offer: Creating and editing any file (such as HTML or Text), which makes things faster and easier than using a seperate editing program for files.
Advantages (why use this instead of FTP software on your computer?):

Not everyone knows how to use FTP software.
Not all web browsers connect to FTPs, and none have as many features as SmartFTP.
Customized look. Why lose your visitors when you send them to an FTP to download files? With SmartFTP they stay on your site. People will connect to an FTP while viewing whatever else you want them to see, just like if they were viewing any other of your pages.
Better for busy FTPs because it only stays connected as little time as possible. This allows more users to view a busy FTP

HTML is the lingua franca for publishing hypertext on the World Wide Web. It is a non-proprietary format based upon SGML, and can be created and processed by a wide range of tools, from simple plain text editors - you type it in from scratch- to sophisticated WYSIWYG authoring tools. HTML uses tags such as

and

to structure text into headings, paragraphs, lists, hypertext links etc. Here is a 10-minute guide for newcomers to HTML. W3C's statement of direction for HTML is given on the HTML Activity Statement. See also the page on our work on the next generation of Web forms, and the section on Web history.

Any file with a name that begins with a period or dot (.) on UNIX and Linux systems. They are called "hidden files" because by default, they are not included in a directory listing when using an FTP client, e.g., WS-FTP or CuteFTP. User configuration files (.htaccess) are often hidden to prevent accidental deletion or modification. Directory password files (.htpasswd) are also hidden for the same reasons.

SiteMgr YAP is a set of perl scripts that let webmasters give their users the chance of managing homepages from the browser. The users of SiteMgr YAP may create their homepages from the editing window, or upload html files from their local machines to the web server. They also have the possibility of deleting, renaming and copying files or directories. Navigating through the directories, and seeing the generated pages is also very easy with SiteMgr YAP.

The main script, sitemgr, is bassed on Sanford Morton's sitemgr perl script.

YAP stands for 'Yet Another Port'. There is a port of the original sitemgr for Windoze NT. This is the second port of sitemgr.

WebRFM 0.4 is now available. The main changes are listed in the changelog.
There is a SECURITY BUG in all previous versions of WebRFM that might allow users to access files outside of their virtual root directories. This would be hard to do by accident, or in the course of regular usage, but a malicious would-be cracker might be able to discover how to do that. This problem is fixed in version 0.4. If you rely on WebRFM virtual roots for access control, then you are STRONGLY ADVISED to UPGRADE TO THE LATEST VERSION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you are using a modified previous version of WebRFM, such that upgrading may be a problem, then please drop me a note. I will provide you with a quick fix by e-mail.
