This free script lets you create upload forms on your web site. You will be able to do it easily, without having to buy a binary component.

Binary components are expensive and difficult to install. The installation of a component requires special permissions on the server. The advantage of an uploading script is that you can add it yourself, even to an account in a web-hosting company that doesn't let customers install binaries.

Performance is not sacrificed in this ASP script. Powerful stream classes have been available on ASP servers for some time. These classes take the brunt of the work and ensure good performance. The VBScript code merely adds logic to control these streams. You can try uploading a large file in the box on the right and you will see that the time to transfer the file is only dependent on your connection, not on the Free ASP Upload code.

One of our clients wanted to preview commercials on the Internet, so ISSI created the Active Sever Component, dgFileUpload.

With Active Server Pages, you use the Request Object to upload information sent in a request from a browser to a server. Unfortunately, using Request.Form you can only upload text.

dgFileUpload allows you to upload a binary file to your server. And a binary file means not just text, but pictures, gifs, movies, MP-3 sound, and even commercials can be displayed. This also means there is no need to fool around with FTP.

So think of dgFileUpload as a "Improved Version" of Request.Form.

Version 2.6 was released on February 12, 2002 and is the latest, greatest
and only supported implementation.

Version 2.6 exposes over 60 properties and methods for working with
multipart/form data and was re-written from the ground up to repair bugs
in version 2.0 and all previous versions and to add new functionality.

FileUpload is now a six object system that allows a developer to have
complete control over all inputs sent to the page (binary or non-binary)
using an object oriented interface. Complete with compiled html
documentation (I'll probably create all my docs like this from now on
for all examples), the download package contains several examples of
how to use fileupload to save to a file and a database.
