Natterchat started out as a cgi/perl application. It had 2 rooms and a user list that got clogged up. It stayed like that for 5 years! One day i was bored and converted my 200 lines of the main chat script to asp and got that down to 50!!! Natterchat was then reborn! That was in April 2002 and since then it has gone from strength to strength!!!

This is fun. It's a chat application, built with HTML, ASP, and a dash of client-side JavaScript. No software to install, no upgrades to download; a totally thin client.
The key to making this so simple is the use of Application variables. Not only is data storage as simple as reading and writing from the Application() collection, but since everything on the server is in memory, processing is lightning-fast.
I plan to add on to this one, so check back regularly.

More information: Version 3.0 of ASPChatWorx, upgraded 07/05/2000, is a chat application implemented entirely in ASP and is ready to run immediately. All you need to do is create a virtual directory for the application, and copy the files from the .zip file into that directory. Refer to the readme.txt file for more information.

My HTML-based chat is programmed using ASP and you're able to download all needed documents from this page. If you want to set up a chat server on your own ASP enabled site, just place these files in a directory of your choice and make a link to default.asp. This page is used to login users. Furthermore, you will need to add some lines in your global.asa file. Which lines will be described later.

A panel on your right side of ConquerChat always show current number of online users. Your own login name will be marked with bold type. In my current version, you're not able to get extended information about a specific user, but in my next release, you will be able to click on a user to read a detailed description (if made available by this user) and maybe a link to his/her private homepage. However, this will require every user to create a profile. Currently nothing is known about a user, except login name but later a database will be added, describing each user, i.e. its profile.

ASPMultiChat .NET is a HTML chat software. It's compatible with the most popular modern browsers like Internet Explorer 5.5+, Netscape Navigator 7+, Opera 7+. No client-side Java-applets, Plug-ins or ActiveX needed. Server-side part of software is written in C#. Client-side part written in Java Script and uses DHTML features of browser. Client-side scripts use sofisticated algorithm to provide continues, non-flickering refresh of chat board. ASPMultiChat can work as standalone system or be incorporated into an existing ASP.NET application (either C# or VB). Relational database is used to store user properties. To provide very quick response, all short-term data is buffered in variables whenever it possible.
